Mutianyu is the least crowded area of the great wall. The 2.5 kilometer stretch allows you to walk for more than an hour as you explore 22 watchtowers and the valley on either side.
General Admission into the park is 45RMB. I also purchased a ticket for the Cable Car One Way 60RMB and a Toboggan Return 80RMB which came to a total of $30.00. The cable cars swept you up into the sky overlooking the mountains and the majestic Great Wall. We explored for about an hour and couldn’t have come on a more perfect day we had clear blue skies and very good visibility which is rare in Beijing. Then came the best part… the toboggan.
The toboggan is a 4 minute slide that takes you all the way back down the mountain! Yes its as fun as it sounds. You sit on a sled that has a controller with two functions, stop and go so you can either go fast or slow and are able to stop so you don’t hit the person in front of you. I couldn’t think of a better way to end our day.
I took an Uber here from my hotel, it took two hours and was only $30.00. If you don’t know what Uber is you defiantly should give it a try as it’s way better than any taxi service. You can type in destinations which are then translated to your driver so you don’t have trouble with language barriers. It also allows you to follow the GPS route to your destination so you don’t have to worry about getting ripped off. The cars are always clean and the drivers are always really nice.
